In the 19th century, travel bags made from oriental rugs became popular in Europe and America and were called "carpet bags".

It is said that carpets were used as a material because it was possible to get remains of cheap fabric, but it seems to have made a stone two strokes, since it allowed both to store the bags and keep them warm in unheated vehicles.
