DETAILS :
Christmas ball in mercurized glass.
The "frozen Charlotte" is a doll produced during the Victorian era.
This would be inspired by actual facts reported in a New York newspaper in 1840, about a tragedy that would have taken place on New Year's Day. On a particularly cold night, those called "Charlotte and Charlie" went to a ball in an open sled. Without taking into account her mother's warning, Charlotte refused to cover herself with a horse blanket, to show off her beautiful silk dress. When they arrived at the ball, Charlie found his suitor still: she was a frozen corpse.
